Zanichelli, the Italian leading publisher of education and school books, contacted me as consultant for the visual rethinking of their content maps, across all of their areas.
They felt the need to show contents and information in a more direct and engaging way, especially to better deliver the message to students with attention deficit or reading disability, for whom normal flat, boring and way too harshly geometrical schemes, could act as a deterrent.
As a first step, I took maps, chapter schemes and visual explanations of rules from different subjects as maths, physics or geography and rethought them.
Depending on the content and the school level they were aimed at, my task has sometimes been a complete re-work and sometimes just a matter of making the existing maps clearer and better drawn.
Here you see some examples, face to face with the maps I started from.
